What is “Hepeating” and How Can We Stop it?

It’s going to take a whole lot of strong women to kill this

You won’t find “hepeating” in the dictionary, and we hope that the trend will be eliminated long before it will even need to enter a slang dictionary.

“Hepeating” is somewhat the new “mansplaining”.

It’s a term coined on social media which refers to that annoying occurance when a woman says something, gets completely ignored, but then when a man says the exact same things, a.k.a. “hepeats” it, he gets full appraisal and the idea suddenly sounds so smart.

Women experience this often in the workplace.

People overlook their ideas as silly simply because they were uttered from the mouth of a woman.

It’s time to take the power back to us women and take some credit for our keen insights and ideas.

How can we do this?

One woman on Twitter suggested that the best way to prevent hepeating is to simply support each other as women.

If we give each other credit, men won’t be able to casually take it from us.
